Lady Spartans Season Ends in State Quarterfinals

The Moberly Lady Spartans saw their historic season come to an end with a 60-34 loss to the Vashon Lady Wolverines in the state quarterfinals Saturday. Moberly grabbed a brief lead in the first quarter.

Austin Ward with the call on Glory 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com. The Lady Wolverines closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run and started pulling away with a 15-5 second quarter. Moberly coach Tony Vestal said they made everything tough.

Four-year starter Kennedy Messer ended her Lady Spartan career with a team-high 15 points.

Starter Anyja Hayes also graduates. Everyone else is back next year.

25-5 Vashon got a game-high 19 points from JaNyla Bush and 14 by Raychel Jones. The Lady Wolverines will play Southern Boone in the semifinals. Moberly’s season ends at 22-8.
