La Plata Softball Returns Three First-Team All-State Players From 2020 Semifinal Squad

It’s not often you see a high school team return three first-team All-Staters the following year. La Plata coach Greg Buescher has that luxury this year with his Bulldog softball squad, and he’s excited about it.

Olivia Coy returns for her senior season on the mound for the Bulldogs. After suffering a shoulder injury in last year’s state semifinal loss to Platte Valley, Buescher says they will manage the All-State pitcher a little differently this year.

First team infielder Pieper Wood and outfielder Paige Carvajal also return to the La Plata lineup. Buescher shares how he expects those two to step up from a leadership perspective.

The Bulldogs lost four starters from last year’s semifinal team. Buescher unveils what their plans are to fill those shoes.

La Plata finished last season 22-7.

You can hear more from La Plata softball coach Greg Buescher and the rest of the area high school softball coaches when we preview the 2021 Missouri High School softball season with our Softball Warmup Show Monday, August 23rd on Superstation KRES.
