La Plata Girls Win Nail-Biter; Higbee Boys Coast to Victory

The La Plata Bulldogs took down the Class 1, 10th-ranked Higbee Lady Tigers 50-44 in dramatic fashion. La Plata held the lead the entire first quarter. Multiple lead changes were exchanged after a 13-13 tie score. Higbee sparked a run to end the third.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on Glory 97.3 and The two sides continued to battle in the final frame. Layne Mack delivered the only three in the fourth quarter.

La Plata kept distance with some late free throws to seal the win. Mack and Claire Coy each finished with 17 points. Coach Chad Zeigler was proud of his group.

The largest lead of the game was five for the Bulldogs in the first. Higbee’s Isabelle and Ronnie Welch both finished with 14 points. Coach Tanner Burton.

La Plata finishes the regular season 21-4. Zeigler spoke about preparing for the district tournament.

The now 18-6 Lady Tigers face state-ranked South Shelby Friday night.

The Higbee Tigers got contributions from their leading seniors in a 88-63 win. Derek Rockett, Will Spilman and Jaxson Hudson had 30, 22 and 19 points respectively.

The Tigers improve to 23-1. The 7-17 La Plata Bulldogs we led by Kendrick Hulett with 26 points and Tucker Beaute contributed 23 points.
