Kevin Krietemeyer has been hired as the new head coach of the Kirksville High School football team. Krietemeyer has spent the past three years as the head coach of Bowling Green where he compiled a 14-17 record. His other prior head coaching stop was at Unity-Payson in Illinois where he spent four years. Krietemeyer says he’s learned some important lessons over the years.

Krietemeyer will be tasked with turning around a Kirksville squad which went 3-8 last season. He says having some prior familiarity with the Tigers will help him adjust to the new job.

The coronavirus pandemic presents a challenge for Krietemeyer and other newly hired coaches looking to get to know their new players. Krietemeyer says modern technology is very helpful during these uncertain times.

Krietemeyer takes over for Conrad Schottel, who stepped down as Kirksville head coach in February to focus on his growing family. Schottel compiled a 13-28 record during his four years as the head coach of the Tigers.
