KOENEKE AND HALLSVILLE BASEBALL ENTERING THE MISSOURI SPORTS HALL OF FAME
That’s Coach Koeneke from the Chariton Valley Magic City Sports Talk Show on Friday. The Joplin native came to mid-Missouri to play baseball at Mizzou and later found a home in mid-Missouri at Hallsville. Koeneke has led the Indians to the diamond for 1,157 games posting a record of 684-473. His teams captured three state championships, but Koeneke said just getting there the first time was memorable….
Two of the best players to wear the Hallsville purple helped Koeneke and the Indians to back-to-back titles in 2004 and ’05….
Koeneke said credit for the success goes beyond the dugout….
Koeneke and Hallsville Indians Baseball will receive induction in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on November 3rd in Springfield. Next spring, Koeneke will be back on the field for his 45th season as skipper.
