During this month’s meeting, the Knox County School Board heard a presentation from some architects and engineers regarding issues with heaving floors in the district. The architects and engineers had worked on a Central Office renovation project for the Knox County School District in 2012. Knox County Superintendent Andy Turgeon says the issue with the floors is actually a reverse from what they faced nine years ago.

Now the floor is raising up, likely due to an increase in moisture around the foundation of the building. Turgeon says the architects presented a timely solution to deal with the heaving floors.

The floor project is expected to take two weeks to complete and will be done as part of the Knox County School District’s large list of summer projects.
