Knox County will be making the move to eight-man football in 2021. The school board approved the move Tuesday night. Superintendent Andy Turgeon says the decision comes down to low participation.

Turgeon says the move has been considered since a fellow Lewis and Clark school made the jump.

Under Lewis and Clark bylaws, each school must offer the same sports, including 11-man football. Turgeon commented on the school’s future eligibility in the conference.

Schuyler County made the move to eight-man last November and still participates in the conference aside from 11-man football, though their future eligibility remains unclear.
