The Kirksville School District returned to its level two hybrid model of learning this week for kindergarten through eighth grade students. The district switched to virtual learning last month. Kirksville Superintendent Bob Webb says the switch back to the hybrid model came partially due to national recommendations.

CDC findings have shown the virus hasn’t spread as widely in schools as first feared. Webb adds online learning has proven to not be a reliable substitute to in-person learning.

Parents of kindergarten through eighth grade students were given the option to continue online learning while the district returned to the hybrid model. Webb is hopeful the period between the holidays will give students the opportunity to get some valuable in-person learning in.

Kirksville High School students are tentatively scheduled to return to level two learning on Monday. However, a final decision on that return will be made at the end of this week.
