Classes are back underway in the Kirksville School District. After finishing the first semester in online learning, the district returned to the hybrid model of classes. The Kirksville School Board held a special meeting Thursday to discuss how to move forward with classes. Kirksville Superintendent Bob Webb…

Prior to the meeting, the district sent out surveys to parents, teachers, and staff to get their opinion on having students returning to in-person classes. Webb says the survey showed most respondents were in favor of at least having students in the district’s hybrid model, and if possible, full in-seat classes throughout the week.

Webb adds the biggest issue they face in potentially having to go back to virtual learning is a lack of teachers.

The district has only seen a limited amount of COVID-19 cases among students, and most have been contracted outside of school. The next Kirksville School Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.
