The Kirksville scholar bowl team returns to the state finals for the first time since 2013. The Tigers defeated Springfield Catholic 420-180 in the Class 5 quarterfinal round to reach this point. After playing the entire regular season schedule online, the district tournament marked the first time that Kirksville participated in an in-person match this season. Kirksville coach Jordan Webber discusses adjusting back to traditional in-person games.

This season marks the seventh time the Kirksville scholar bowl team has reached the state semifinals. Their lone state title came in 2010. Webber says each player on the team has a different trivia strength.

The Tigers will face Ladue in a Class 5 semifinals Saturday at 1pm. Webber says they’re optimistic heading into play this weekend.

Kirksville finished third in its last trip to state in 2013. Warrensburg and Smithville round out the Final Four in Class 5 this year.
