Kirksville Police are in the process of investigating multiple church burglaries in the city. Officers initially responded to the First Methodist Church at 300 East Washington Street Monday, at just before 8 am for a report of a broken window. The investigation showed a burglar had broken out a window and damaged property inside the church. A short time later, officers responded to the First Baptist Church at 207 East Washington in reference to another broken window. This time officers found that the suspects had stolen several items and damaged property inside. Among the stolen items were several electronics. Later another Kirksville police officer discovered a broken window and damaged property inside the First Christian Church on North High Street. Police have been able to identify a suspect in all three burglaries thanks to security camera footage in the area. As a result, officers arrested 19-year old Nathaniel Ray Evans in connection to the burglaries. Kirksville Police police were able to recover several stolen items following the arrest of Evans. Police are still attempting to identify at least one more suspect in the burglaries.
