Kirksville Native Lain Named GLVC Special Teams Player of The Week

Truman Football’s Tanner Lain was selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after the Bulldogs blocked three punts in a 34-15 win over William Jewell on Saturday night. Lain blocked the first two punts with the first directly resulting in the first score of the game. His block came with 7:49 left in the first quarter and the ball caromed toward the Cardinals endzone where Peyton Carr of Columbia jumped on it and was credited for the touchdown to give Truman a 7-0 lead. The second block came in the second quarter with Cody Schrader scoring five plays later to put Truman up 27-2.

Truman will play in a de facto “semifinal” game against Missouri S&T on Thursday night with the winner advancing to compete for the GLVC Spring Football Championship the following weekend against the winner of the Indianapolis/McKendree tilt. You can hear the game from Rolla on KRES and centralmoinfo.com starting with the Truman Tailgate at 5:30pm.
