Kirksville Mayor Declares State of Emergency

The Mayor of Kirksvillle, Zac Burden, has issued a state of emergency due to the threat of COVID-19. The proclamation was issued during a special City Council Meeting Friday evening.

The proclamation was prepared in the hope the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services would authorize the city’s ability to limit public and social gatherings. Kirksville City Council also voted to approve an ordinance for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for emergency service personnel, in an attempt to minimize the spread of the virus.
