Kirksville City Council Approves Rezoning Proposal for New Health Care Center

The Kirksville City Council has given final approval to a proposed rezoning for Hannibal Regional Medical Center to build a new health care center. Communications Director Austin Miller says the final plan is smaller than what was originally proposed.

The original proposal called for 240 acres of land to be rezoned. The proposal drew large crowds to recent council meetings. Miller says those crowds played a role in the final decision.

After a special meeting last week, city council and staff, property owners and Hannibal Regional representatives all met to craft the final proposal that was approved during this week’s meeting. Miller says Monday’s meeting wrapped up a unique process.

The planned health care center will be located on East Illinois Street in Kirksville.
