The Kirksville City Council approved the first reading of the 2022 city budget. Assistant City Manager Ash Young says the expenditures are about $41 million, which is about 2.5% more than this year.
Young credits the American Rescue Plan Act for the increase in the budget.
The U.S. House needs to pass the act before funds can be accessed. Young says the council is also monitoring to see if those funds could be utilized for street work.
