Kirksville Airport to Receive Federal Funding for Upgrades
Congressman Sam Graves has announced that the Kirksville Regional Airport will receive federal money through the Airport Improvement Program. Graves received notification from U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary that the Kirksville airport will be receiving $3.3 million through the program to rehabilitate both a runway and a taxiway. Glenn Balliew is the Airport Manager and Public Works Director in Kirksville.
And because of these funds, Balliew says some runway work will be able to take place sooner.
An exact timeline for the work in Kirksville has not been set, but Balliew says they will get it done as soon as the funding allows.
Airports in Memphis, Bowling Green and Tarkio also received AIP grants earlier this year. The Airport Improvement Program provides grants to public agencies, and in some cases, to private owners and entities, for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport System.
