The Keytesville School Board named Kevin Gundy the Keytesville/Northwestern eight-man football head coach Monday night. Superintendent Josh Shoemaker…

Shoemaker notes Gundy works for Red Weir Athletic Supplies in Columbia, but Gundy will return to football with a full-time role in the Keytesville School District.

Gundy’s head coaching stops include Cameron, Fort Osage, Fort Scott Community College, and Quincy University. Shoemaker explains how the hiring process developed.

Shoemaker referenced Eric Hoyt, who is the Northwestern superintendent. Keytesville approved eight-man football in November, then formed a co-op with Northwestern. Shoemaker’s Keytesville staff also features assistant coach Mike Butt, who served as the head coach for Salisbury’s undefeated 11-man state championship team in 1997 after an eight-man title with North Nodaway in 1989.

The Keytesville/Northwestern eight-man football co-op debuts at home versus Schuyler County August 28th.
