Kansas Auctioneer Wins Midwest WLAC Qualifier

A first-time competitor from Northeast Kansas is one step closer in his quest to be declared the world’s best livestock auctioneer.  Andrew Sylvester of Wamego won top honors last month at the Midwest qualifier for the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship, hosted by Cherokee Sales Company in Oklahoma.  Sylvester credits his salebarn for encouraging him to join this year’s competition.

30 auctioneers competed in the qualifier.  Sylvester explains what he had to do during the competition.

Sylvester adds that the lots covered a wide range of what an auctioneer will come across at each sale.

Sylvester will advance to the semifinals of the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship, set for June in Indiana.  The WLAC is sponsored by the Livestock Marketing Association.
