Joey Roberts Named New Macon Police Chief
The City of Macon has announced Joey Roberts as the new police chief. Roberts is a 26-year veteran of the Kansas City Police Department. His time with the KCPD includes serving as a detective in the Internal Affairs Unit and the Chief of Police office. He was promoted to Sergeant within the department in 2005. He went on to help create the department’s Mounted Horse Patrol Unit, which he led for 13 years. In 2020 Roberts was promoted to Captain where he served as Acting Division Commander for the Metro Patrol Division. Roberts is a 1991 graduate of South Shelby High School. His wife Greta is a native of Macon. They’ve been married for 30 years and have two adult children. Roberts takes over for Macon Police Chief Adam Dawdy, who resigned last month.
