Jenny Jansen Looks to Return Winning Tradition to Palmyra Softball

Palmyra is turning to a first-year head coach to lead its tradition-rich softball program in 2023. Jenny Jansen comes to Palmyra after spending one year as an assistant coach at Quincy Notre Dame. She concluded her playing career in 2022 at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Jansen explains how the hiring process with Palmyra played out.

Over the years Palmyra has racked up five state titles, the most recent coming in 2011. Jansen says she likes the winning drive she’s seen from the players so far.

Jansen saw plenty of success during her playing days as she helped lead Warrenton High School to state titles in 2015 and 2016. In college, she helped the Salukis to two NCAA Tournament appearances and earned numerous Missouri Valley Conference accolades. Jansen feels Palmyra is a reflection of her.

Jansen adds her time at Quincy Notre Dame has prepared her for taking on a head coaching position.

Jansen inherits a Lady Panther squad that went 12-16 last season.
