With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Thomasson, Kniess and Hamilton families announce the passing of our strong, kind, brave and incredibly compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jean Ruth Thomasson. She went to dance on the beaches of Heaven on May 19, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Kansas City, MO on January 25, 1954, to Harold and Alice Kniess, she lived a life of love and selflessness which has touched more lives than she could have possibly known. One of seven siblings, Jeanie became the rock to her family. Always there when needed and giving guidance when necessary and making sure they all had fun. Jeanie had an adventurous spirit which led her down many paths. Her love of family and her love of God always in the forefront. She taught her children unconditional love and acceptance and defended them with everything she had. Her light and her heart could be felt by all who knew her. Jean enjoyed gardening, being active, playing volleyball, and taking care of her animals. She was truly a country girl and enjoyed being in nature and traveling with her husband and family. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish no matter the obstacles.

Jean is proceeded in death by her parents, Harold and Alice Kniess and brother, Daniel Kniess.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Thomasson; her children, Monica Helkey(Rob), Jill Watts(Scott), Wade Hinds; grandchildren, Allie Scott-Zelnick(Whit), Nicole Scott(JeƯ Tell), Connor Dowd, Jordan Watts(Ashlee), Tyler Watts(Murphy), Paige Hinds, Aidan Hinds, Ryker Hinds; great-grandchildren, Rowan Scott-Zelnick, Alaina Watts, and Lincoln Watts; her sisters and brothers, Jim Hamilton(Vera), Teresa Kniess(Walt), Steve Kniess(Christina), David Kniess(Denise), and Mark Kniess(Sandy) along with many nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.

There will be a Celebration of Life on May 29th from 4 to 8 at Lakeview at The Broken P to remember the joy and laughter Jeanie brought to us all.
