Kirksville Police and the Adair County Sheriff’s Office are beginning an investigation after a missing woman was found dead in Kirksville Wednesday afternoon. A search for 55-year old Meredith Ann Water Lewis begin earlier in the week after a member of Lewis’ family contacted the Kirksville Police Department to report they hadn’t seen her since last week. They also reported Lewis had been dealing with health problems and were concerned for her well-being. Lewis had last been seen October 30th at approximately 5:35 pm in the area of Highway P and the Highway 63 bypass after being dropped off at that location. Adair County Sheriff Robert Hardwick says she was found dead not far from that area.
