Motorists traveling on I-70 in Callaway County might want to find an alternate route next Tuesdya night, due to the planned work for a new bridge on Route D over I-70. The old bridge will be demolished the night of June 23rd. For the safety of workers and motorists I-70 will be closed in both directions from Route A/Z to Route D/YY while the demolition takes place. Single lane closures will begin at 7 pm, June 23rd, with the full lane closures expected to start at 9 pm and lasting until 6 am. During the closure eastbound I-70 motorists will be re-routed at exit 155 and westbound travelers will be re-routed at exit 161. Signs and crews will guide motorists through the detour route. Once the old bridge is demolished the bridge crossing on Route D will be closed for up to three months. Motorists using Route D will need to find an alternate route throughout the bridge project. In the event of inclement weather, the closure of I-70 would be pushed to June 24th. The bridge is included in Governor Parson’s 351 million dollar Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
