If you’re visiting Kansas City this weekend to attend the Western Farm Show and were planning to use Interstate 70, you might need to adjust your route when you get into town. Beginning late Friday evening, the Missouri Department of Transportation plans to close the interstate between I-435, near the Truman Sports Complex, and I-470 in Independence. Crews plan to spend the weekend bringing down bridges over I-70 as part of a major project to replace the intersection with I-435. Motorists are advised to use I-470 and Highway 71 as a detour into Kansas City, or I-470 to I-435 if passing through the metro. I-70 is expected to reopen by Monday morning.
