Coming in at just under 80 bushels per acre, Huntsville soybean farmer Joe Kruse claimed Missouri Soybeans’ District Two title in the 2019 yield contest for conventional tilled farms. Kruse credits his seed vendor for encouraging him to begin competing.

Kruse also credits an early planting date and drainage improvements to his farm for enabling him to succeed in a year dominated by heavy rains.

Huntsville soybean farmer Joe Kruse adds that he was encouraged by nearby farmers also taking part in the contest, as well as a willingness to test new techniques and products to increase yield. District Two consists of 12 counties in North Central Missouri, ranging from Randolph County northwest to Mercer County.
