Uncertainty in the pandemic did not limit the Kansas City Chiefs’ aggressiveness this offseason in locking up a leader on both sides of the football. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year extension worth at least $450 million and defensive lineman Chris Jones agreed to a four-year extension worth $85 million. New Chiefs Radio Network color commentator Danan Hughes was not surprised by the deals.

Hughes said Mahomes understands the big picture.

The contract could be worth up to $503 million. The extension kicks in once Mahomes’ rookie contract expires in 2022 and will keep the Super Bowl MVP in Kansas City through 2031.
