House Open Enrollment Bill an Early Focus in the Missouri House

Republicans in the Missouri Legislature are once again focusing on an open enrollment bill this year, which would allow students to enroll in neighboring districts. However, Representative Cheri Toalson Reisch of Hallsville says the decision would still be up to school districts.

Representative Brad Politt of Sedalia has filed the bill for the fourth straight year. Last year, it narrowly passed the House but died in the Senate. Toalson Reisch says it’s largely the same legislation this year.

Many local rural school districts have voiced financial concerns in previous years related to open enrollment.
