House Considering Penalizing Hiring of Undocumented Workers

A bill in the Missouri House would penalize business owners who hire undocumented aliens. State Representative Danny Busick blames bad operators paying migrant workers below minimum wage.

Busick says the bill would protect employees.

Under the proposed “Immigrant Employment Registration and Taxation Protection Act,” an employer, private or public, who is in violation of the law would have their business license suspended for 120 days. House Bill 1515 would also charge legally documented migrants with a felony if they don’t show their authorization papers when requested.
