During last week’s State of the State Address, Missouri Governor Mike Parson proposed an operating budget of $34.1 billion. In the wake of the budget proposal, the Missouri House Budget Committee had its first meeting to begin ironing out budget details. Committee member Peggy McGaugh said the first task for them was dealing with the supplemental budget.

Governor Parson’s proposed budget includes $14.1 billion for Medicaid expansion, which was approved by Missouri voters last August. McGaugh says it is unclear how the Medicaid expansion will impact the rest of the budget.

The Carrollton Republican adds she is ready to face the challenges of working on the House Budget Committee once again.

This marks the second year McGaugh has been assigned to the Budget Committee.
