Highway 24 Opens After Fatal Crash

Highway 24 east of Moberly is open after a fatal tractor-trailer accident killed two out-of-state men Tuesday. Randolph County Emergency Management Director David Gaines says the highway is back open.

According to the State Highway Patrol, when the accident occurred a semi was stopped partially off the roadway, with the trailer of the semi blocking both lanes. Gaines shares the timeline of events.

The driver, 31-year-old Kaysamual Blanks of Rancho Cordova, California, was outside of the truck when it was hit by a semi driven by 61-year-old Michael Fenner of Jackson, Michigan. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.  Gaines was thankful to area crews for the immediate assistance.

Highway 24 in Randolph County is now open to traffic in both directions.
