Heroes To Hives Connects Veterans With Agriculture

The transition to civilian life for military personnel wrapping up their service to country can be difficult, but a program through University of Missouri Extension might take the sting out of the process.  Heroes To Hives is entering its third year of introducing veterans and active personnel to beekeeping.  Extension agronomist Travis Harper says there’s a historic connection between veterans and beehives.

This year’s program has both online videos and on-site training, which will take place at either Mount Vernon, Poplar Bluff, or Warrensburg.  Harper says Heroes To Hives not only helps connect veterans with each other, but also opens them up to more opportunities within ag.

The next session of Heroes To Hives will begin in March.  Signups and additional details are available on the Heroes To Hives website.
