HELIAS GETS A REMATCH AT MONROE CITY

The Class 2 Monroe City Panthers upset Class 4 Helias 34-28 last year in Jefferson City, scoring the game-winning touchdown in the closing seconds. The Crusaders make the return trip Friday night ranked 7th in the state, while the Panthers are getting votes. Panthers coach David Kirby says his team isn’t looking past Helias.
Both teams are 5-1 this year. A game like this gives the community a chance to showcase itself.
Monroe City will finish the regular season with a game at Clark County and then home against Palmyra, the two teams it currently trails in the District 6 standings.
