Heart of America Suspends Spring Competitions Through March 30th

The Heart of America Athletic Conference’s Council of Presidents Friday temporarily suspended all conference competitions for all 13 members, including Central Methodist and Missouri Valley. Commissioner Lori Thomas said “We will use this time to monitor the ever-changing health crisis and determine the best steps for the health and welfare of our student-athletes, coaches, administration, and fans moving forward.” On Thursday, the NAIA National Office announced the immediate cancellation of all remaining winter national championships: men’s basketball, women’s basketball, competitive cheer, competitive dance, and women’s wrestling. Conference officials will continue to meet regularly over the next two weeks with the next public comment on conference competitions to be released in April. Decisions on all non-conference sporting events are determined by the individual schools. The KCAC has also suspended all athletic programs until a later date, which impacts Missouri Valley and Columbia College lacrosse. Missouri Valley College has temporarily suspended all out of season sports from meeting, practicing or playing.

The American Midwest Conference Council of Presidents voted unanimously Friday morning to cancel all remaining intercollegiate activities, including conference championships, for the 2020 spring season.
