The Central Methodist women and William Valley men were picked to win the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the preseason coaches’ polls. CMU’s women had two of the 13 first-place votes and 142 points, four more than MidAmerica Nazarene. Clarke, William Penn, and Benedictine round out the top five, with each of those teams getting at least two first-place votes. Culver-Stockton was picked seventh and Missouri Valley ninth. William Penn’s men got eight of 13 first place votes. Benedictine had four and were picked second, CMU got the other one and was picked third. Missouri Valley was picked ninth and Culver-Stockton 13th.

Voting for the polls was calculated with a first place vote earning 13 points, a second place vote earning 12 points, and so on in descending order. Coaches did not include their own team on their respective ballots.
