While many college athletic conferences are announcing the cancelation of fall sports in 2020, both the Heart of America and MIAA Conferences are still planning on having organized competition this fall. However, the two conferences have different plans for their schedules in 2020. The Heart of America is fully moving forward with their fall seasons as it is currently scheduled. This comes after the Council of Presidents met Thursday via Zoom and agreed to keep everything on schedule. The first day of fall practices in the conference is scheduled for August 15th. All sports, except football, can begin competition September 5th, while football will start September 12th.

Meanwhile, the MIAA is still planning to hold fall sports in 2020, but the schedule is being postponed by three weeks. The conference has announced all fall practices are delayed until the week of August 31st and the start of competition won’t begin until the week of September 28th. The MIAA’s CEO Council plans to continue to monitor this plan and adjust it as necessary. The goal of this plan is to allow the conference’s member universities to continue to monitor the ongoing pandemic and make decisions on athletics and other campus activities based on conditions in their community and with guidance from local and state health officials.
