Randolph County officials are in the midst of preparing the budget for the new year. County Clerk Will Ellis, the chief budget officer, says it appears that the county will end 2019 in positive shape.

Department heads will put their individual budgets together, with an overall deadline for ratification in January.
Ellis says the biggest challenge continues to be in one area.
Ellis says the plan is to also include a pay increase for county employees in the new budget.
