Hayden Lovingier Breaks 1000, Macon Boys Pick Up Big Conference Win

Hayden Lovingier surpassed 1,000 career points and Macon picked up a big Clarence Cannon Conference win 65-54 over Palmyra.

That buzzer beater capped an 11-point first quarter for Lovingier, who ended with a team-high 20. Coach Dale Devenport said it was a special night for a special kid.

Macon trailed 7-1 early before outscoring Palmyra 23-2 the rest of the first quarter. Maurice Magruder had 16 points, Boston Douglas scored 14 and MyKel Linear chipped in 10. The Tigers led by as many as 18 and Palmyra couldn’t cut the deficit to any less than four.

The Panthers got a game-high 23 points from Carson Hicks and 13 from Bear Bock. Macon moves to 15-3 and Palmyra falls to 14-6.

The Lady Panthers were led by Candra King’s 19 while Sydney Compton put in 14. Taytum White and Ashley Bode each had 12. Macon started the second quarter on a 13-3 run for coach Natalie Garlock.

Brooke Weimer paced the Tigerettes with 14 points and Ella Barnett tallied 11. Palmyra is now 16-4 while Macon is 4-10.
