After three weeks on the road, the Harrisburg Bulldogs will play their first home game of the high school football season Friday night when they host the Westran Hornets. Harrisburg beat Westran for the first time ever last season. Harrisburg coach Steve Hopkins says his team is looking forward to hosting the rematch.

Westran possesses one of the top running backs in the area in Kolby Dale, who has already accounted for nine touchdowns this season. Hopkins says stopping the run will be the key to his team’s success once again this week.

Both teams enter this week unbeaten in Lewis & Clark play at 2-0. Westran has a 3-0 overall record after last week’s 56-6 romp over St. Joseph Christian. This is in stark contrast to the 2-8 record the Hornets compiled last year. Westran coach Aaron O’Laughlin explains one of the keys to his team’s success this season.

Harrisburg also features several returning players, having only graduated two seniors last season. The Bulldogs feature a balanced offense having passed for 545 yards and rushed for 539 yards through the first three weeks. O’Laughlin says his defense will have to be on guard at all times in order to slow down the Bulldogs.

Along with serving as their home opener, Fridays’ game will also be Senior Night for Harrisburg. Colin Schowe will have the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com with pregame coverage beginning at 6:25 pm.
