Hallsville’s Season Ends in State Quarterfinals

The John Burroughs Lady Bombers defeated the Hallsville Lady Indians 53-42 in the Class 4 state quarterfinals at Francis Howell Central High School today.

The Lady Indians led 11-8 after the first quarter before the Lady Bombers defense held Hallsville to just three points in the second quarter. After trailing by seven at the half, Hallsville’s offense got going via the 3-pointer in the second half.

Hallsville cut the John Burroughs lead to one possession numerous times in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Bombers hit timely shots down the stretch and pulled away with free throws. Hallsville finishes the season with a district championship and a 22-8 record, the most wins for the program since 2012. The Lady Indians graduate five seniors, including the program’s all-time leading scorer Avery Oetting. Heet discussed the impact the seniors had on the program as well as the future of the team.

Monet Witherspoon led all scorers with 26 while Kristen Jones led Hallsville with 16 points. John Burroughs improves to 20-4 and advances to the Show-Me Showdown on Friday.
