Kirksville football coach Conrad Schottel tendered his letter of resignation this past Friday. Schottel says a large reason why he is stepping down directly ties to his family.

Schottel has been the Tigers head coach for four years and guided Kirksville to a 13-28 record during that stretch. Schottel says it was tough on him to figure out that balance.

Schottel admits he will miss coaching varsity football and the energy the kids bring to him and vise versa. Schottel says whoever his successor is at the head Tigers man, they have to be stubborn in their stance for loving the game of football and to have fun coaching it.

Schottel will remain in the school district as a teacher, and will also continue coaching various sports at the middle school level.
