Greyhounds Topple Mineral Area

A game-high 24 points from Akili Evans, including five threes, led the 20th-ranked Moberly Greyhounds to a 71-67 win over 5th-ranked Mineral Area Wednesday night at Fitzsimmons-John Arena.

The Greyhounds are now 21-6, 8-2 in Region 16. Mineral Area is 26-2, 9-1 in the region.

The Lady Hounds erased an 11-point first half deficit, but could not hold on to the lead in the fourth quarter and lost to 23rd-ranked Mineral Area 58-49. Moberly grabbed the lead just before the end of the third quarter.

The final play of the quarter left its mark not only on the rest of the women’s game, but also all of the men’s game.

Michaela Guest led all scorers with 13. Destiny Bynum-Johnson and Sydney Pettis had 10 each for Moberly. Moberly is now 11-15, 3-8 in Region 16. Mineral Area improves to 24-3, and 8-2.
