Greyhounds Have Eight New Players Signed

The Moberly Greyhounds have already signed eight incoming players for the upcoming season. Coach Pat Smith feels this group will correct some deficiencies from last year.

Three are transfers: Dorian Staples, a 6’8″, 240 pound forward from Fredericksburg, Virginia, by way of Allegany Community College; Rashad Weekly-McDaniels, a 6’1″, 200 pound point guard from St. Louis, by way of Central Michigan; and Miles Mendes, 6’6″, 225 pound forward from Minneapolis, by way of Troy University.

The other new recruits are Jamaray Davenport, 6’0″, 170 pound wing from St. Louis; James Dent, a 6’5″ wing from Springfield, Illinois; John Orogun, a 6’9″ 250 pound post from Nigeria by way of Sunrise Christian Academy; Akili Evans, a 6’5″, 160 pound point guard out of Waterbury, Connecticut; and former Moberly Spartan Andre Bell, Jr., will also be a Greyhound.

Smith still has three scholarships to fill.

Four players are returning from last year’s team: Sincere Parker, Tyren Moore, Jordan Persad (per-SAD), and Makalani Kafele. The Greyhounds will open the season November 5th and 6th with a classic at home.
