During its latest meeting, the Green City School Board spent time discussing how to utilize Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds. Superintendent Tenille Banner says the district will have around $750,000 to spend over the next three years.

Banner gave an example of what would qualify as “student learning loss and recovery”, saying this year’s second grade class has dealt with a lot of difficulty since they were first graders.

The district will hire an additional third grade teacher for next year. Banner notes the hired teacher was also made aware that the position could be temporary when the funds run out.

The board is supposed to make a priority list and make some decisions of how to use the funds at its next meeting.
