Grants For Smaller Meat, Poultry Processors Available

Federal coronavirus relief funds are available through the Missouri Department of Agriculture for meat and poultry processors who wish to expand their slaughter capacity and resiliency. Grants manager Liz Roberts says recipients can use the grants for certain expenses.
Because funds are from the CARES Act passed in the spring, Roberts says expenses incurred from dealing with the virus can also be covered.
Three levels of grants are available, depending on the level of inspection the facility goes through and if they slaughter on-site. Applications and more details are available on the Missouri Department of Agriculture website. The deadline to apply is August 31st.
