Governor Parson, State Ag Leaders Welcome New Meatpacking Plant

Several of the state’s top ag leaders joined local officials and Governor Mike Parson on Monday afternoon in Warren County to break ground on a new meatpacking plant.  Wisconsin-based American Foods Group aims to open the plant outside Foristell along Interstate 70 and the Norfolk Southern railway in 2024, with plans to process 2400 head of cattle per day.  Parson championed the group’s decision to open their latest facility in Missouri.

Parson said that the need for a beef processor in Missouri is long overdue.

He also credited the state’s recent investment in workforce development and infrastructure.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson spoke during a ceremony at the site of the new plant, which will be known as America’s Heartland Packing.  Owners American Foods Group will invest about $800 million in the 775,000 square foot facility.  The governor’s office says 1300 jobs could be created as a result of the plant’s construction.
