Glasgow Girls Upset Top Seed Harrisburg, Salisbury Pulls Away

The fourth-seeded Glasgow Lady Jackets upset top-seeded Harrisburg and Salisbury pulled away in the second half over New Franklin in a pair of Class 2 District 7 girls semifinals Tuesday.

Harrisburg went on a 9-0 run late in the second quarter to cut into a 10-point deficit but Glasgow closed the quarter on a 6-0 run to go to the break holding a 31-24 lead. The Lady Jackets created distance in the second half.

Carli Ellis contributed 15 points to lead Harrisburg. The Lady Bulldogs end the season 14-13 and will return every player to next year’s team. Glasgow moves to 12-13.

Salisbury outscored New Franklin 25-10 in the second half to claim a 51-31 victory. Coach Wade Billington explains the slower start.

Khloe Wyatt put in a game-high 16 points while Julia Sloan had 12. New Franklin’s Abby Maupin notched seven first quarter points but struggled with foul trouble throughout the rest of the game and ended with just 10. Coach Morgan Vetter said she asked a lot of her team.

New Franklin ends its season 15-13. Salisbury will play Glasgow in the Class 2 District 7 championship game Friday night.
