Glasgow Boys Earn Class 1 Final Four Berth

The Glasgow Yellowjackets defeated the Atlanta Hornets 66-55 in the Class 1 Boys Quarterfinal at MACC. It was a closely-contested game in the opening quarter, with senior Roman Phillips scoring eight of the Hornet’s 11 points. Glasgow senior Edris Hamilton responded with nine points in the second.

The teams entered the fourth quarter separated by just 2 points, with Glasgow leading. The Yellowjackets used a magical fourth quarter to keep their postseason run alive.

Hamilton scored 24 points, freshman Jackson Meyer had 15 and Jordan Fuemmeler added 13. This will be Glasgow’s first state semifinal appearance since 2017. Coach Mick Cropp gave his initial thoughts.

Phillips finished with a game-high 33 points for Atlanta. The senior earned Tri-County North MVP and first-team honors alongside senior Landon Gilliland who was first-team all-conference. Coach Jason White said his seniors changed the complexion of Atlanta basketball.

Atlanta finishes the season 25-5 along with a district and a La Plata Invitational title. White said the team met his challenge to them earlier this season.

Glasgow will book a trip for Springfield, Missouri next week to take on the St. Elizabeth Hornets hailing from District 6.
