Glasgow and Atlanta To Meet Friday After Class 1 Sectional Wins

The Glasgow Yellowjackets squeezed out a victory while the Atlanta Hornets used a big second-half to advance to the class one state quarterfinals.

Glasgow defeated the Leeton Bulldogs from district nine 59-56. The Bulldogs outscored Glasgow 22-10 in third, giving them the lead heading into the fourth after trailing at the end of the previous two quarters. The Yellowjackets made three timely triples down the stretch.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on KIRK and centralmoinfo.com. Leeton had multiple looks with under ten seconds remaining, and had one final possession. The winning play came on the defensive end for Glasgow as the ball was stolen and the final buzzer sounded.

Jordan Fuemmeler had a team-high 23 with freshman Jackson Meyer scoring seven of his 13 points in the final frame. Coach Mick Cropp spoke about his freshman stepping up in the clutch.

Leeton was led by Cody Shackelford with 17. Glasgow picked up its 22nd victory of the season.

Brunswick jumped out to a 14-0 start in the opening quarter against Atlanta, but the Hornets followed the lead of senior Roman Phillips in the comeback effort to pull away for the eventual 70-55 victory.

Brunswick was led by junior Colby Jenkins with 21. The Wildcats featured only one junior accompanied by sophomores and freshmen on the active roster. Coach Colton Byrd.

Brunswick finishes the season 22-8 with a district title as well as a CLAA co-conference title. Atlanta will clash with Glasgow Friday night in the class one quarterfinal at MACC.
