Moberly grapplers want to set themselves up for another strong state run with good results at the super-district tournament which begins Friday night in Mexico. Last year, the Spartans brought home a 4th place state trophy. Coach Charlie Gibbs discusses the mindset of individual versus team at the district tournament.

The Spartans lost to Kirksville 37-34 in the regular season dual. Gibbs expects to battle the Tigers for a team title.

Last year, Kirksville won the district title and Moberly finished as runner-up, but the Spartans brought home a state trophy. Gibbs also believes district newcomer Blair Oaks will be a factor.

Coach Gibbs won his 100th career dual in the regular season finale. He had several wrestlers also achieve milestones.

You can hear the full interview with Charlie Gibbs on the Chariton Valley Magic City Sports Talk Show on KWIX Friday morning at 9:32am, or on the show page in the sports section of centralmoinfo.com. Other teams at the district in Mexico include Boonville, Fulton, Lutheran, Orchard Farm, Owensville, Priory, Southern Boone, St. Charles West, St. Francis Borgia, Winfield and Wright City.
