The first general signup period in four years to place acreage in USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program will close Friday, February 28th. Farm Service Agency administrator Richard Fordyce says while this is the first opportunity in four years for landowners to offer acreage for a fixed term, they shouldn’t see much change in the application process.

Fordyce adds that more acres can receive CRP payments, thanks to the latest Farm Bill.

Farmers seeking to offer land during the general Conservation Reserve Program signup period should visit their local FSA office.
